I have decided it is time for me to really consider making my own bear. I have the material left over from making Brittny a fake fur coat for Christmas. There is plenty of material so if I make a mistake I can fix it. Now all I need is to find a good pattern to make a nice bear. I remember making a small bear years ago, so I assume I can make a larger one.
I did some research online and found Simplicity Patterns have an assortment of good looking teddy bear patterns. I intend to get one as soon as possible and get busy. Since this will be a Christmas present for 2008, I am giving myself enough time to make a bear. I may even have enough material, ambition, and craziness to create one for Andrea while I am at it. Check back with me on this one as I know I am going to have more comments on creating my own teddy bear.

Making your own teddy bear can be a lot of fun. Can you just imagine all the excitement of spending time in a Build-a-Bear Workshop? All the joy of picking out the items you want to make your bear your very own. And don’t forget his heart, because he’ll need it to keep on living.
You don’t even have to know how to sew to make a bear. There are kits that let you stuff a bear and not even use a needle! These workshops help you pick out the body, a heart, and even give a birth certificate for your bear. If you want to have clothing for your bear it’s an extra cost. Craft kits can cost anywhere from $10 on up and they come with everything you’ll need to make your bear.
Buying a few teddy bear patterns from the store is another way to create your own bears. There are many selections to chose from. Be creative and make the bear the way you want it to look.

Personalized teddy bears are wonderful because you are the one designing what the bear will look like. You should take pride in creating your bear, whether he will be for your own personal collection or for someone else. You’ll get a real sense of accomplishment by creating your bear.
First you will need a body for your bear complete with head. You can find a pattern to make your own or go to the bear workshop and pick one out. After you stuff your bear and stitch him closed, you will need an outfit. There are many career outfits, holiday outfits, and just for fun outfits. You need to chose the theme for your bear. Imagine what your bear will look like and then get all the necessary things to dress him, right down to shoes.
You won’t find that special one of a kind teddy bear in any store because this one will be your very own. Personalize him to fit you or that special person who will be receiving him as a gift. You may even want to get a musical recording to place inside or you can record your own message or favorite song. Then when pushed in a certain place he will play whatever recording you have chosen. Some bears can come with their very own heart beat making them great for a newborn baby.
Most of all, have fun creating your personalized bear. Just remember that he will have his own place in your heart once he is finished because you created him yourself.
