teddy bear websites to check out

Published by Rosie under Teddy bears

I did some online searching yesterday and found a few wonderful sites that bear mentioning> pardon the pun! To see some great photos of handmade teddy bears go to beartreasures.com. Melanie has made some adorable bears which I know you will enjoy looking at. A very nice person, Melanie answered my question about noses. Waggle bears is also another great site to check out. AgainĀ  I emailed with nose questions and Marlys answered my email. Two very nice people who cared enough to take the time to answer an amateursquestions. Much appreciated! Marlys also gave me some other websites to check out: Bid4Bears is a place where you can buy handmade one of a kind teddy bears. www.kranbears.com is another site to see bears and get some answers. Intercaltg.com and edinburghimports.com are suppliers of teddy bear parts and patterns. So you know I will be checking out different websites and enjoying all things teddy!

Making a teddy-she’s done~

Published by Rosie under Teddy bears

I completed Lavender tonight. I only needed to embroider her nose and mouth. I had thought I did a pretty decent job, considering she was the first teddy I had ever made. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t feel I did a bad job, but I got brave and decided to check out other artists’ teddy bear websites. Oh, my! I typed in teddy bear forums and let my fingers wander fantasybearland! Well, I think I learned a lot. Noses come in all sizes and shapes! Bear faces have personalities all their own. Different artists have created masterpieces. I invite you to check out websites and see what I mean. I will never be able to create such wonderful bears, but that doesn’t mean I am going to give up, either! I will continue to make teddy bears, but now I have some ideas rolling around in my head and I am not sure what will really happen for the next bear. I will keep you informed!

The Making of a teddy bear, part 5

Published by Rosie under Teddy bears

Tonight he got stuffed! I made him a firm but cuddly teddy bear. Hunks of fluffy stuffing went inside first his head, then his body. Once that was stuffed to my satisfaction I stitched the opening shut. Then I did one arm and the next, making sure they were stuffed enough to make them equal. Then the legs. He looks all right. Not the greatest, because I feel this pattern needs some tweaks to it. Next one I will do a bit differently, making the pattern my own. I know I can change things a bit to make him more personable. All that is left is to do his nose and stitch him a mouth. I hope to get at those perhaps tomorrow. He’s coming along nicely and I am sure Brittny will just love her teddy bear. I was thinking about the clothing, but I am still not quite sure. Since her birthday is in May, I do have some time to reconsider. Am I glad I made a teddy bear? Oh, yes! I only hope the nose and mouth won’t give me any hassles.
