Today I assembled the bear. I had some problems attaching his head. I ended up tearing out the stitches twice before I got the head centered onto the body. Note for the next bear, make sure to notch and match seams keeping the front of the head centered directly over the center seam of the front of the body. This bear looks great so far. Hopefully I will be able to begin stuffing him and stitching the openings. I am still not sure how much stuffing to put in him. I will decide as I go and see how he turns out.

I got all the parts sewn, now I will have the assembly left to do. Like I said earlier, this is a very easy pattern. I am hoping to have some spare time tomorrow to start assembling the teddy. It doesn’t seem very hard to do. After all, this is not rocket science! I never thought I would enjoy doing this so much. I must saw this will not be the last teddy bear I will make. I will have to decide on other materials to try next time.

I managed to get started sewing. I got the gusset sewed to either side of his head, attached his ears, and sewed the back of his head onto the front. I also used some nice safety eyes. These really made his face better. I have to do his nose yet, but enough for tonight! He really is turning out cute already! I am so pleased. This is an easy pattern to use and the material I chose is working quite well. The safety eyes are eyes with a screw type plastic piece in the back. This is all one piece, so nothing can be pulled apart. The eyes are put into a small hole you make in the material, the shank is pushed through to the wrong side, then you put a plastic “nut” onto the shank and push it tight until it meets the material. This wedges the material between the two pieces of the eye. I tried to pull it apart and that isn’t going to happen.
