Creating a second bear

Published by Rosie under Teddy bears

Looking for material to do a second bear became too much of a chore today. I walked around the fabric area of the store, searching for just the right material. Mind you, I don’t want to spend a lot on this material since I am just a beginner. Looking at fake fur, trying to decide if I really should attempt that, I decided I need  more input from someone who has done this before, so I will consult with my friend Ellie and see what she has to suggest. I did find a nice felt type material and perhaps will go back next week for some.

I also need to check the pattern again and try to modify it as suggested to me by another bear maker. The nose doesn’t seem long enough to me with the pattern I was using, so maybe I should buy some cheap material or use something I have here to do a sample for myself. Trial and error might be the way to go. I know I want to attempt another bear, so I have to have patience with myself, dive right into it, and see what happens.

Teddy Bear Love

Published by Rosie under Teddy bears

He sits there in the corner waiting for the day when he will be presented as a gift from me to little Brittny. I do hope she will treasure him for years to come, that little lilac colored bear I made for her. He came from my heart, with all the love I could stuff inside him. He is waiting for hugs and kisses from Brittny, to be loved until he is but tatters of material and loose stuffing. That is what teddy bears live their lives for…to be loved unconditionally, taken everywhere, slept with, and cried with for many years. Perhaps she will keep this teddy bear until she is a mother herself. Maybe she will stuff him (or what’s left of him) in a box under her bed so she will always remember someone loved her enough to create him for her once upon a time. She celebrates her very first birthday May 18th, 2008. She is my angel:  blond hair, blue eyes, and just adorable. Part of me can’t wait to part with this bear, but part of me wants to hug him myself, transferring my love to him so he can give it back to her. That’s why I created him. A teddy bear means love.

Give a homemade teddy bear

Published by Rosie under Teddy bears

Making homemade teddy bears shows your love and dedication to the person you made the bear for. You can show them you care and they will love you for all the hard work you have put into making a bear just for them. They will always remember that you created something special for them. Every time they look at the bear, or hold it, they will remember your kindness and thoughtfulness.

The bear doesn’t have to be perfect. As long as it’s made especially for someone. They will love you for the gesture and admire both you and the teddy bear. So go ahead, make that teddy bear with a special person in mind.
