Care Bear Afghan – finished!

Published by under Teddy bears

I managed to finally finish the afghan and I am pleased with how it turned out. Brittny will get it for her Christmas present…well at least the big present! I know she will enjoy this afghan for years. I did make an error, not counting the single crochet rows and had to add to the panel before I could finish the cross stitch, but it still turned out very nice. Please let me know what you think of my completed project.

Of course, this was not a simple project. I figure I have put in at least 200 hours if not more of working on it. I would not attempt another one for a long time! This afghan was made with love, so that will make it all the more special. All that’s left is a cloth tag to be sewn at the bottom on the wrong side telling Brittny who made the afghan and when. I have to admit I did enjoy making this afghan. Now I have to see what other projects I can get into. I never did make a teddy bear for this Christmas. Since it’s rather late, I know that project will have to go to next year.

Care Bear Afghan – still under construction

Published by under Teddy bears

I have been working on a Care Bear Afghan for the past year and a half. I want to finish this for a Christmas present for Brittny. A simple panel of single crochet with cross stitching over it creates a Care Bear. This is in a booklet that can be found at most craft stores. While it didn’t look like it was going to be such a long drawn out project, for me, having little spare time to work on it, it has become quite a challenge. Currently I have the bear just about done. This particular one- Sunshine Bear- is sitting on a swing that is tied to a star. Once the bear part is completed I need to still do the star. It’s turning out to be very nice and I am pleased so far. I know Brittny will love this as it will be one of her favorite bears and is done is a soft baby type yarn. It will be big enough to cover a twin bed. If you do intend to attempt such a project, give yourself plenty of time to do it as it is time consuming. Doing the counted cross stitch isn’t all that hard over single crochet, but pulling out errors can be rather tricky. I know.
