The Making of a teddy bear, part 2
Today I bought the pattern to create my teddy bear. This one will have jointed arms and legs. I have someone to help me should I have any problems since she made teddy bears years ago. This helps me feel calmer about taking on this project.
I also looked at different materials. Some are rather high in price, which made me realize that this won’t be a “cheap” project. I do have some fake fur here to use and will start with that. I will have to get the other things needed for the bear, including the nose and eyes (unless I decide to use material or do a satin stitch with embroidery floss. Since Brittny is under age 1, I just might do this instead of using the plastic eyes and nose).
My first step will be to get all the pattern pieces I need from the package. This one has 3 different sized bears. I have decided to do the larger bear since it might be easier to work on something bigger than attempting a small bear. Then I will need to read over the instructions that come with the pattern. It’s always advisable to read over these since they also give tips and pointers about cutting out the pattern. If things go well for me, I will try to get the pattern pinned and cut this week. The fur will fly!

I would avoid using the fake fur used in coats as it has a lot of stretch in it and makes very distorted bears. Also be careful with embroidery floss on noses as it start to disintegrate after being pulled through the nose three or four times.
